About Automated Search of Commitments

The Automated Search of Commitments (ASC) allows users to search the Rural Health Care database for commitment information. Now, you can narrow down your results by entering certain criteria such as a particular state, applicant, city and so forth.

Once you have entered your search criteria, a report is created showing funding year, state, applicant name, services requested, FCL date, address, city, and committed amount. Rather than sift through many applicant records, you can target those that you want or get all of the data for an entire state. The information you enter into the search fields will be used to filter out the records you do not want and include the ones you do.

Instructions for Using Automated Search of Commitments

TIPS:

  1. Use as many fields as you like, but be sure to select the Funding Year.

  2. Keep in mind that the more data you enter, the more specific your results will become.

  3. The ASC tool is not case-sensitive, so entering "hollywood" and "HOLLYWOOD" will yield the same results.

Select a Fund Year

To select Funding Year click the small down arrow on the right. You may choose only one at a time. The drop-down list that appears will display the funding years for you to search. This is a required field. For example, selecting 2000 in the Funding Year field will limit your results to only those applicants committed funds in Funding Year 2000.

Enter an Applicant Name

To search for specific applicants by name, you may enter the entire name or just the first few characters. If your search produces no results for an applicant that you know was committed funds, there are no applicants meeting all that you specified in your search. Try searching again with fewer criteria to make your search more general. Hint: To find a particular applicant name, use less characters.

Search for Applicants by State

Creating a state report is easy! Just select a year and scroll through the state list to find the state you want. You may choose only one at a time. Click Find to view all applicants in that state. To select all states, simply leave the default selection to "All".

Search for Recently Funded Applicants

You may search for applicants funded within the last 30, 60, or 90 days. The default selection pulls all applicants funded in that year.

Search for Applicants by City

To find all committed applicants within a particular city, first fill in the required fund year and state fields, then enter the name of the city. You do not have to enter the full name, especially if you want a broader search. Or if you are unsure about the spelling of a city name, enter just the first letter.

For example, to find applicants in SANTA BARBARA, SAN JOSE or SANTA MARIA, type SAN in the City field. Your results will be applicants located in a city beginning with those letters.

Search for Applicants by ZIP

You can narrow down your results even further by specifying a 5-digit ZIP Code. The resulting report will contain all applicants located in that ZIP Code.
